At High Risk Solutions (HRS), our commitment to raising standards extends beyond the work we deliver on site. It includes how we invest in people, support future pathways, and contribute meaningfully to the communities in which we operate.

It has now been more than one year since COGSY (Communities of Gladstone Supporting Youth) became an independent entity — and in that time, not a single day of work has stopped.

From Vision to Ongoing Action

Founded by HRS, COGSY was established to bridge the gap between industry, education, and young people in the Gladstone region. The goal was never short-term outcomes, but sustainable, practical pathways that build confidence, capability, and real-world readiness.

Over the past year, COGSY has continued to grow through strong collaboration with schools, local government, industry partners, and community organisations — all working toward the same outcome: better futures for young people.

Gear Shift: Practical Pathways in Action

One of the most significant milestones this year has been the successful Gear Shift Pilot Program, delivered in partnership with Gladstone State High School.

The eight-week program was designed to support Year 10 students through structured, hands-on learning aligned with industry expectations. Participants developed skills in:

  • Safety awareness and workplace behaviour
  • Teamwork, communication, and accountability
  • Task planning and practical work readiness
  • Understanding real employment pathways

Early outcomes showed increased confidence, stronger engagement, and clearer direction for students as they consider training and employment options.

Gear Shift reflects COGSY’s commitment to early intervention, practical learning, and industry-aligned support — principles that also sit at the core of HRS’s Gold Standard culture.

E-motion: Wellbeing, Connection, and Inclusion

Alongside Gear Shift, E-motion, a COGSY program, continues to play an important role in community wellbeing.

E-motion uses movement, cultural engagement, and inclusive activities to create safe spaces where people can build confidence, resilience, and connection. These programs promote healthy habits and social inclusion — recognising that wellbeing and belonging are foundational to long-term success, both personally and professionally.

By addressing wellbeing alongside skill development, COGSY supports the whole person, not just the pathway.

Why This Matters to HRS

At HRS, we believe strong communities build strong workforces. The same values that underpin safe, high-quality project delivery — accountability, responsibility, integrity, and care for people — also underpin our support of COGSY.

This commitment isn’t about promotion or recognition. It’s about taking responsibility for the region we operate in and contributing to long-term, sustainable outcomes.

Looking Ahead

As COGSY moves into its next year, the focus remains on:

  • Expanding practical, industry-aligned programs
  • Strengthening partnerships with education and industry
  • Continuing to support wellbeing, inclusion, and confidence building
  • Creating clear, supported pathways into training and employment

HRS is proud to support COGSY as it continues this important work.
